The Patient

the patient is a` visiting guest to the hospital who has a health disorder and complains of pain or dysfunction seeking treatment and healing at the lowest cost, shortest time , best way and easy and simple steps expected in the hospital of the University of Science and Technology.

Instructions for the patient:

Dear patient

• If you complain of severe pain, emergency or any medical condition that calls for urgency and cannot stand to wait, go to the emergency department located in the hospital and you will find treated very fast where you will undergo examinations and the necessary medical procedures such as the radiological images and laboratory tests.

In the event that your condition require admission to stay in the hospital for further management , You will be referred to the appropriate department to complete the necessary procedures, such as surgeries or tests for a few days.

• If you complain of a health problem with certain symptoms, you need to have a thorough diagnosis. You should go to the OPD building . You will be guided to the appropriate specialist clinic according to your health condition. There are more than (40) clinics covering all disciplines to perform the necessary medical procedures.

• If you need a laboratory test to get accurate and fast laboratory results, you should go to the lab Department in the Building 2 on the fifth floor and you will find Lab experts using the most advanced laboratory machines and devices which can analyze rare tests found only in UST Hospital .

• If you need a radiological imaging such as MRI , CT Scan , US, X-ray, etc. , you need to visit The basement floor in the main building of the hospital . the department is staffed with very qualified doctors and technicians and it is equipped with the most up to date machines all over Yemen.

Admission in the Hospital

The admission and discharge policy :

Admission policy:

* Bring the order of admission for surgery or internal medicine from the specialist doctor in clinics or from the outside doctor.

• Go to the admission office and patient accounts in the ground floor of the main building or to the emergency accounts in the night shift.

• ask about the cost of surgery, admission fees, and fees of other procedures.

• Choose the suitable room in the admission wards.

Patient's Rights :

• the patient has the right to be treated with respect by all members of the hospital staff without any discrimination and in a safe and barrier-free environment.

• He has the right to receive the necessary health care in order to obtain a proper diagnosis and treatment for his or her illness.

• He has the right to be informed of the name and job of the medical staff to be responsible for his or her care.

• He has the right to be completely informed of the details of his health condition and that the medical staff should give this information to him personally or his representative.

• He has the right to Participate in health care decisions.

• He has the right to Obtain all the information that needs to be known in order to give his consent on the proposed procedure or treatment.

• He has the right to maintain his privacy during his stay in the hospital and to maintain the confidentiality of all matters related to health care provided to him.

• He has the right to have access to his medical records and to receive his medical reports upon request with an appropriate fee.

The patient must

• show respect for those around him and treat patients and hospital staff with respect.

• Compliance with hospital rules and regulations.

• Provide full and correct information about his or her complaint, history, illness , any sensitivity to any medical drugs and all other matters related to his or her health.

• Report any development in his health or any sense of improvement.

• Follow the treatment plan prescribed by his doctor.

• Accept assuming the responsibility for refusing treatment or not following the treatment plan.

• Meet deadlines or cancel them in advance.

• Understand that the cases of some patients may require more attention from his condition and that is why they will have priority.

• To comply with the rules of public safety and hospital safety.

• Ensure immediate payment of the financial costs of health care received.

3. The first floor: contains ICU - CCU - the main operations department and central sterilization - Center Cardiac catheterization.

4. The second floor: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department - The Department of Midwifery - Men - Midwifery Department - Women - Department of Neurology - Department of Wing and Circulation - Medical Records and Accounting - Nursing Department.

5. The third floor: It contains the Department of Internal Medicine and Surgery of Women and Children - Department of Suites and Private Rooms Women - Internal Pharmacy - Office of Records and Accounting.

Health care during hospital stay:

The patient is admitted to the appropriate ward according to his health condition and in the appropriate room according to the degree desired by the patient, knowing that there are several levels of different grades, which are as follows:

1. Royal Suites: Two double rooms, one of which is a patient's room and the other one is separate for visitors and companions, with excellent furniture and excellent hotel service.

2. Suites: A spacious private room, where the patient is alone and has distinctive furniture and excellent hotel service.

3. First and Special Class: It is a single room for the patient, which is smaller than the suite in terms of space and also contains excellent furniture and hotel services.

4. Class III: Three patients are housed with all necessary furniture.

5. The isolation rooms where the patient lies only to prevent the spread of infection to the companions and other patients and is equipped according to medical standards.

6. Care Units: Care is considered a very important section and receives critical cases where the patient receives care and attention under the supervision of doctors and nurses 24 hours where no companion will not be allowed to get in and they are as follows: ICU- CCU-MICU- NICU

patient Companion

• One companion is allowed with the patient provided that he is a man in the men section and a woman in the women or children section.

• The presence of the second companion is not allowed in the interests of your patient, because this costs you more.

• No companion are allowed in the intensive care departments, NICU, because there are male and female nurses next to each patient and the presence of accurate monitoring devices.

• No companions are allowed in the maternity ward and men not allowed to have entry.

• Meals are provided for the companions , a comfortable chair for sleeping, a blanket and a fireplace, as well as a net service in the private rooms.

• Patients or their companions request additional meals from the nutrition section through the department nurse.

• The companions are not allowed to remain in the isolation rooms at all to maintain their health and prevent the spread of infection.

Patient room services

• All rooms have a bathroom, TV, bell, refrigerator, guest chairs, mosaics, carpet.

• Additional services are provided upon request to the patient (wheelchair, bath chair, urinals, crutches, extra blanket, extra meal, water).

The patient's health needs during admission :

• The care of male patients is provided by male . However, female patients are taken care by female nurses in all departments.

• There is a bell at the head of each patient to be pressed when needed to bring the nurse as soon as possible to meet the demand.

• Nursing staff will change the beds daily whenever necessary.

• The nursing staff will measure the pressure , pulse , heat , and breathing of the patient periodically and according to the doctor's orders for continuous reassurance , follow-up care and treatment.

• Doctors, nurses and specialists perform periodic rounds on all patients, follow-up and reassurance of patients and conduct the necessary examination according to the treatment plan and the need for disease.

• The nurse in coordination with the doctor alternately throughout the 24 hours to follow all the positive and negative variables and take the necessary action.

• Nursing staff provide the necessary medicines and treatments on time and in the correct scientific methods.

• Keep the medical file of the patient at the responsible nurse and not the patient to maintain reports, forms and medical examinations and to keep confidential information of the patient.

• The patient is allowed to request the specialist doctor who wants him and allows him or his guardian to change the specialist doctor within a special form and according to the internal regulations of the hospital.

• If the patient or his guardian requests to be consulted by a specialist other than his / her physician, he / she may do so in a special form with the addition of additional service charges.

Essential Patient Tips:

The patient must abide by all medical instructions from the treating physician or nurse and cooperate fully with the medical and nursing staff in taking medicines and doing the necessary procedures and eating in order to recover quickly, God willing, and reduce the complications.

Important Instructions:

• It is strictly forbidden to smoke and Chew khat in the hospital.

• It is forbidden to take any medicines from outside or inside the hospital without the permission of the doctor or nurse in charge so as not to interfere with data treatment and cause your health damage.

• Adhering to safety instructions in the hospital.

• Know the emergency exits of the hospital.

• Do not use electrical extensions by yourself inside your room.

• Do not use any fireplaces on your own in your room.

• If coughing or sneezing, use paper tissues.

• Some rooms may have color plates or cards. Ask the nurse first about the safety of these rooms.

• If any liquid is found in the floor of your room, ask the housekeeping staff immediately.

• Avoid touching yellow biological waste containers.

• Avoid touching containers for needles and syringes.

• Feel free to ask any questions to specialists during your stay.

• If you are allergic to some medications or anesthesia you should tell your doctor and nurse.

• Always keep a copy of the x-rays and tests.

• Ask for the results of your tests and x\rays.

• Do not be shy about alerting the hospital staff when providing the service if you do not wear the glove.

• When you receive the discharge medicine, you must make sure that it is the medicine that is actually required.

• If you decide to have an operation, ask about the details of the surgical procedures that your doctor will undertake.

• You should ask your doctor when you are out of the treatment plan , the prohibitions and some activities such as bathing, movement, driving and others.

The patient's food

In order to protect the health of the patient from transmission of infection and germs, it is strictly forbidden to introduce any food or drink from outside the hospital and to adhere to the meals prescribed to you by the doctor according to your health because there are specialists who prepare meals for patients under scientific rules and according to the orders of the specialist doctor.

Visiting the patient:

There are specific dates for visiting patients and for limited periods in order to provide comfort and calm for you and the rest of the patients , to maintain the safety of everyone and to prevent the inconvenience and disturbing of others:

• It is prohibited to take children to keep their health from transmitting the infection.

• Comfort and quiet should be provided for the safety of all and to prevent inconvenience.

• Visit the intensive care once a day and the patient's first degree relatives only.

• The visit ends at 9:00 pm.

Patient's belongings :

- to maintain your own property , Belongings Office has been provided to put them in return for receipt of a bond in order to ensure the loss at the main gate.

Suggestions

If you have any suggestions, complaints or notes, whether positive or negative, write them in the form and send them to the official or to the customer service in the morning. You can also put them in the proposal box or to the Nursing Monitor On the evening or to the head of the department where you are staying and they will be followed carefully.

discharge Policy:

When you are notified of your discharge follow these steps:

• Wait for the resident doctor in the department until he is finished with the other patients and he will write your own prescription.

• Receive your medicines from nursing in the department before you leave.

• Wait until the Discharge procedures are completed by the floor clerk and accountant and issue your financial bill.

• Go to the accounts of patients to pay and take the discharge permit.
